STUDENT VOTER ACT of 2009

FELN supports the Student Voter Opportunity to Encourage Registration (VOTER) Act of 2009 (H.R. 1729 and S. 1125), which was introduced by Congresswoman Janice Schakowsky (D-IL) and Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL).  The Student VOTER Act would amend the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) of 1993 by designating all public and nonprofit colleges and universities that receive federal funding as voter registration agencies.

On December 14, 2009, FELN, along with the Student Association for Voter Empowerment, sent letters to over one hundred college Presidents and Chancellors, requesting their support for the Student VOTER Act.
